Alex Nuñez

Assistant Director, Recruitment and Admissions

As assistant director for recruitment and admissions, Alex works with prospective Honors students and their families on a regular basis through daily on-campus information sessions, planned insight programs, and admitted student visits. He works with students as they explore the many resources and opportunities the Arizona W.A. Franke Honors College has to offer. In addition to working with prospective students, he also helps oversee the Franke Honors College Ambassadors and Xtreme Discovery Teams, where he gets to work with current Franke Honors students through recruitment, philanthropic, and social event programming.

Alex is a UA Honors alumnus, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in History while becoming involved with numerous on-campus organizations, such as the Honors College Ambassadors, Arizona Ambassadors, and Chain Gang Junior Honorary. Afterwards, he remained at UA to attain a Master of Education in Teaching and Teacher Education. Before joining the Honors College in his current role, Alex spent time as an Admissions Counselor with the UA Office of Admissions in Phoenix, AZ, and worked in educational programming with the Smithsonian Institution and National Park Service in Washington, D.C.

In his spare time, Alex is an avid sports enthusiast, cheering on his beloved Wildcats and Arizona Diamondbacks. As a native, He enjoys being outdoors hiking and running, and always appreciates the occasional road trip. Alex is a lifelong learner, currently participating in a graduate program at UA to work towards his M.A. and Ph.D. in History, studying the impact of sports upon ethnic and cultural communities in America.
