Professor Patrick Baliani presents a dramatic reading of his essay, The View from Arthur Miller, Abridged, together with The Rogue Theatre founder and director, Joseph McGrath. Baliani’s lecture provides context for the upcoming Rogue Theatre production of Arthur Miller’s play, A View from the Bridge and encourages students to explore what makes Arthur Miller “America’s greatest moral playwright.” Issues further explored are virtue ethics, the “social” play, identity, empathy (including Miller's "power" as a public intellectual), and our great need today for Miller’s humanism.
