Feel Good Fridays

 

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY (FGF) encourages Honors College students to engage the local Tucson Community. Through intentional volunteering, students will engage in positive social change and community building. All student who participate in a FGF will receive the official FGF sticker!

Fall 2020

Felicia's Farm

Did you know there are thousands of people in Tucson who struggle daily to get enough healthy food to eat? Felicia's Farm donates an average of 700 pounds of produce and 170 dozen eggs to help low income/homeless individuals. We will be learning from Cathy Lolwing, Education and Outreach Director of Felicia's Farm about how to get involved. 

Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation

The Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation (SAAF) aims to cultivate a healthy and stigma-free society through transformative action. SAAF offers individuals living with HIV/AIDS services including housing, food, and support groups. Volunteer Resource Coordinator, China Garza, will introduce ways for students to volunteer with SAAF. 

 

Iskashitaa Refugee Network
Friday, Nov 6, 3:00 pm, Zoom
This organization creates opportunity for community engagement with UN refugees while educating the public, strengthening the local food system and reducing local food waste. Iskashitaa harvests around 100,000 pounds of food annually and reduces food insecurity and waste. Allison Doty and Kate Crooks will highlight the work Iskhashitaa is doing in the community and ways for you to get involved.

Humane Society of Southern Arizona

The Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA) has served over 1 million pets! This organization works to implement programs that create life-saving pet initiatives. Volunteers spend over 150,000 hours a year serving the organization, and now you can get involved! Community Outreach Coordinator, Stephanie Gary, will introduce you to ways to get involved with HSSA!
